We publish stories meant to outlast the ones who tell them.

About the Press

Animas Press is an independent imprint based in southwest Colorado, named for the Animas — the River of Souls — and for the spirit that outlives a story's telling.

We keep a deliberately short list and give every title the same care, from the first page to the last.

iii

The Silver Mountain Supper Club

Snowbound above the treeline in 1884 Colorado, a doctor, two chefs, and their devoted companion run out of everything but appetite.

The Author

Kyle Cunniff

Kyle Cunniff builds things. For more than twenty years he has worked as an industrial designer and artist — designing products for manufacturers, building out camper vans, and now writing fiction. He and his partner are putting up a sculpture garden at the edge of the Great Sand Dunes in Mosca, Colorado; when they are not there, they are somewhere down a dirt road in their van.

His short fiction comes from the same restless place: people at the odd edges of the world, things that shouldn't quite work, but do. He writes from Pagosa Springs, Colorado, where he lives with his partner and their two children.
